AS--Arawyn's Idea

Damien was hanging high above the forest floor in a net made of old vines and was glaring down at me indignantly.

"Aren't you going to let me down?!" he yelled.

I smiled. "Maybe. Maybe."

That's when I got my idea...

* * *

"Damien," I hissed up to him. "I know a way to get your dad back. Just don't freak out, OK?"

"How can I not freak out!?" Damien cried. "I'm stuck in a trap while you're down there on the ground! Now CUT ME DOWN!"

I sighed. "OK, OK, hold your horses. I'll cut you down. But only if you agree that we're in this together."

My eyes searched out his face in the darkness. Only by the magic that hung in the air, soft little glittering lights, could I see Damien's face. He was glaring at me moodily. Finally, he sighed.

"Alright, alright. Now cut me down."

I pulled an arrow out of my quiver, drew back, and let loose. The arrow cut through the rope holding the net to the tree branch, and Damien fell to the ground with a loud THUMP. I pulled him out of the mess of the net and to his feet.

"Now here's the plan," I whispered. "We've got to find a nearby town and a tavern."

Damien frowned. "What?"

"We've got to find a Sky Ship that'll be able to take us after Brumby," I explained. "I'm sure there's someone that'll be willing to do it. I mean, I'm sure you have some money..." I smiled up at him.

He glared. "Yes, I have SOME money. But there's just one problem."

"Yeah?" I demanded.

Damien ran a hand through his hair. "Where's a nearby town?"

My Accident

Yesterday
March 14, 2013

I practiced my parallel turns as I skied down the twisty slope. My thoughts were half on the slope and half on the thought that had been on my mind ever since I'd remembered it--I forgot the books. The books for book club. I couldn't help but think that we'd have to leave even earlier from the slopes to get home to grab the books before Book Club. Pay attention, I warned. You haven't been on this slope today. You've got to be careful. My eyes looked ahead to the snow that I'd be skiing on in just a few moments. I passed that and turned around the corner. I kept on going. I knew I was nearing the end of the slope--I remembered from the last time I'd been skiing here on the slopes.

Then something happened. I'm not even really sure as it is. The slopes were icy and slushy that day, some of the most dangerous snow to be skiing on. I'd been warned about it, but we were still doing it, anyway. I'm not a fast skier. I was sure I'd be alright. I've only been on a blue twice in my entire life. We've figured that somehow one of my skis must've gotten caught on the slush, while the other one kept on going. My knee twisted funny. It wasn't right. A sharp pain--7/8/9 on the 1-10 scale--shot through my knee. I fell, and kept on sliding down the steep slope. I tried to stop, and again it hurt. Somehow I stopped myself. And I realized that I'd hurt my knee, probably really badly.

I was pretty sure I'd seen somebody right before I fell. One person. That was all. And I needed help.

"Help!" I screamed, tears streaming down my face, partly from the pain that I'd experienced earlier and partly from fear. "Help! Help! Help! Help!"

I didn't stop until several people skied up. One of them had a red jacket on with a white cross on it. Good. I figured it was one of those doctor/first aid people. It turned out that it was. He asked me some questions--what had happened, where I hurt, what my name was--and then another first aid man came up with a litter on skis. They told me they were going to put my left leg--the one with the hurt knee--inside of a splint and then put me on the litter. I helped them as much as I could. They put the splint on my leg, lifted me on the litter, and then zipped up the canvas over me so that I wouldn't get snow all over me. I was strapped down and I couldn't see what happened after that, but I felt them zoom down the hill. They took me to a building, where they helped me off the litter and had me sit on a bed. They felt around my knee and asked me more questions. My mom came and we rode home.

That's what happened yesterday. It was so unreal. One moment, I was slowly skiing down the twisty green diamond towards the lift. The second moment, my knee hurts, I'm sliding, and then I'm yelling for help, fear in my voice. It felt like a movie or a book--something that wasn't actually happening to me--as I was lifted onto the litter, just like in the simulation that I did several years ago. It was so scary. I was crying half of the time just because I couldn't believe it all.

And now? I'm sitting with my leg propped up--made to go straight, even thought it hurts dully--with an ice pack on, waiting for a checkup from this doctor dude on Tuesday. I'm getting around with some crutches--we're kind of old buddies since I hurt my hip earlier last year--and I'm taking it easy. I'm kind of scared. I don't want surgery of some kind. I just don't know what's going to be happening.

I remembered thinking while they were taking me down the slope, "God, why did this happen?" And then I realized--"God, what are you wanting out of this?" I'm not sure yet, but I'm waiting for His answer. Please pray for me.

2013 Summer Bucket List

This morning I heard a bird. It made me realize that we've been stuck in winter for a long time. There's usually not a sound when I go outside. But somebody opened the door, and I heard a bird.

Bird, bird, trill away,
Start us out fresh today,
A little smile, a little laugh,
Play around in the bird bath.
Sing a merry song to me,
Of the blue sky and black sea,
Oh beautiful bird of God's design,
Come down from the treetops and be mine.

Lazy summer days. They're coming, you know. School will let out in a few months, and then everybody will be running across the countryside. Ah, well, not anymore, I suppose. I suppose most "normal" kids would go to the mall or mope around all day.

I'm thinking about making a summer Bucket List. I don't want to sit inside at the computer all day. I want to enjoy this summer. So I think I'm going to set myself up for an adventure like every day. Oh, yeah, I'll make sure to record the adventures. But I want them to happen. And when I set my mind to do something, you know what happens? I usually end up doing it. I'll say, "I'm going to redo my entire room today", and you know what happens? My room finds itself in a different place by that night. I have a willpower, though sometimes I don't use it. But I've decided that this summer, I'm going to use it. And plenty of it.

So, let's start the bucket list, shall we? :)

Storyteller's 2013 Summer Bucket List
1. GO FOR A WALK AT LEAST ONCE A DAY.
2. GO VISIT ALL OF THE OLD PLACES ON THE PROPERTY AT LEAST ONCE DURING THE SUMMER.
3. PLAN A SCAVENGER HUNT FOR AT LEAST ONE FAMILY MEMBER.
4. PLAY VOLLEYBALL WITH A FAMILY MEMBER AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. (if no one is available, at least play with myself)
5. WRITE IN A NOTEBOOK OUTSIDE, POSSIBLY IN A TREE.
6. TRY AND LEARN TO PLAY THE GUITAR.
7. FINISH THE MOVIE WITH MY BABYSITTING KIDS. (don't ask haha =D)
8. TRY AND SEE HOW LONG I CAN KEEP ON PLAYING BADMINTON THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER.
9. READ 50 BOOKS.
10. REARRANGE MY ROOM AT LEAST ONCE.

Ah, that's nice, isn't it? ;)

So, is it pretty good? Any other ideas?

And I'm going to keep this up on my blog, starting June 1st and taking it off when school starts. I'll be seeing how well I can check things off and actually do stuff. =D

Do you have any plans?

Maybe you can make a bucket list, too! :)

If you do, please tell me. :)

Catching up, Interviews, and Pernisia and Rowan

Hey!

So sorry that I was gone for so long. The play went AWESOME!! :) I remembered all of my emotions (haha =D) and didn't mess up on my dance, so that's good........... Everybody did great!! I was really proud of them. :)

And now....... Poem Girl got back to me, so we have a new Pernisia and Rowan back to back chapters. :)

Pernisia

I clutched my thick stick, the beasts yellow eyes were focused on Rowan, a shiver descended down my spine as I changed hands grabbing for invisible arrows that weren’t there I groaned and retightened my grip on my staff.

I made my way to Rowan’s side and glanced at her, she was glaring at the wolf neither of them moved. Then I realized Caleb was missing ‘no Caleb you didn’t run away did you?’ I thought sadly but then I saw him up in a tree a large confident smile on his face as he looked down at me and gave me a thumbs up, I shook my head violently and made gestures for him not to dare I could sense Rowans anger at what she considered a useless boy saving her and I knew as well as she did that she could take care of everything herself she would accept assistance but an outright botched rescue would probably make her furious. Caleb ran his hand through his curly blonde mess of hair and climbed down slowly, I breathed in relief. “Thank goodness.”

I turned my attention back the hulking Moonwolf and brandished my staff jabbing it in the gut it howled momentarily forgetting about Rowan and facing me a menacing growl irrupting from deep within its throat; Rowan leapt into the air did a flip and landed on its back dealing blow after blow and I wondered why she didn’t just wish for a sword again and kill it once and for all I’d have to ask her about that later. The wolf was surprisingly persistent as it tried to get her off eventually she did fall and flew up into the air and landed with a loud thud I winced and dropped my staff, fell to my knee’s and checked her for injury. “Don’t help me! Kill the Moonwolf!” I raised my eyes and saw Caleb alone locked in battle with the creature (kinda poorly though, my brother only had a week fencing lessons and he was using a staff) and then we were surrounded by Moonwolves…..

Rowan

The Moonwolves snapped and growled, circling the three of us--Caleb with leaves on his messy hair and fear in his eyes, Pernisia with that beauty that I seldom glance in anyone and courage in her eyes... and me. I stared at that one wolf. When I had been fighting it, something had happened. I don't know what. But something had stopped me from using the Stone. Something. And as I looked in those eyes, I realized something. I know those eyes.

"Rowan," hissed Caleb, "what should we do now?"

"Fight," Pernisia said decidedly.

I shook my head, confused. What am I thinking? I can't know the eyes of a Moonwolf. They are dangerous, vicious, and vile. They are... evil. I glanced up. The wolf's eyes met mine.

Rowan, they said.

Who are you? I replied.

Get away from the eyes, and I shall tell. The eyes wouldn't leave any room for complaint.

The wolves herded Pernisia and Caleb into the woods. Pernisia took off running, with Caleb on her heels.

"Come on, Rowan!" she yelled over her shoulder. "Hurry!"

But I was still surrounded.

I turned, staring into the Moonwolf's eyes.

Welcome, they said.

I didn't move.

A chapter in which Wyn fails at acting like a guy

I went through the hallway, past the ladies and mistresses of the castle and the servants and peasants running around. My boots didn't make a noise on the stones as I walked down a stairway, past the kitchen, and through another hallway. I almost got lost but another guard directed me in the right direction for the armory.

"Here goes nothing," I snorted, pushing open the door.

Oh, stink.

* * *

I was faced by a guy who looked like he thought he was just like the bomb. I glared and then quickly reminded myself that I was supposed to be some kind of page, not the sassy Lady Wyn.

"Um, sir?" I managed. I hoped that it sounded pagey enough.

He glanced over at me, his blonde hair flopping dramatically. Oh, please. Yuck. Get a hair cut, dude!! "Yes?" he droned.

"I... uh... I'm supposed to get lessons... err, something, in bow?" I finished with a squeak.

He snorted with rude laughter. "What you need, my friend, in a lesson in how to be manly. Even I can see that you're a little wimp whose father decided he needed to become a knight, because otherwise he'd grow up to be a wimp, which is what you already are."

I glared at him and put my hands on my hips. "Look, mister...!"

"Oh, and I suppose you learned that from your mother?" He laughed rudely again. "Such a sissy."

"Just show me how to use a bow, and then I'm out of here," I hissed.

"Ooh, a spitfire." He rolled his eyes. "Fine. I'll show you. But you'd better learn fast."

It was then that the trumpets blared.

Twilight's Last Night--Chapter Six

Sorry I didn't get your interview thingy diggy in the last post, girls. I forgot and then got busy. =P If I interviewed you and you didn't get an award, here it is:
Congrats, girls. :) Thanks for doing the interview!!
AND NOW......

New topic...

<------------------------------------------->

Chapter Six

The next day in drama class, the auditions continued. We'd already covered singing and dancing the day before, and today I was pretty much positive that we were going to be covering emotion and a loud clear voice. If it was anything like our drama club's other auditions, it meant that we'd be going in for a private reading with Mrs. Volini and her three assistant directors.

The auditorium was a buzz. It was mostly the girls oohing over the thought of being Juliet and the guys groaning about being picked for Romeo. I pushed my glasses up my nose and leaned forward in my seat. I didn't care who I got. I just wanted to get somebody. I just wanted to be apart of the play, you know? I loved drama club. It was like a special kind of family. I loved being apart of that family more than anything.

"...and I heard that Mrs. Volini went and changed the play around and added new characters," a girl next to me was saying to a boy on the other side of her. "So who knows? Maybe you won't get Romeo. Just relax."

He glared. "I've been the main character of all of this drama club's plays for like as long as I've been here." He groaned. "Face it. I'm going to be Romeo."

"He has the most lines for a boy," I offered.

They both turned, surprised that I'd spoken up.

"And...and you'd get to be on stage the most," I continued. "And I bet you'll have the best costume. So what's so bad with that?" I managed a smile.

The girl raised an eyebrow. "Don't you know anything? Romeo and Juliet have to do a stage kiss."

"But... but this is only high school!" I squeaked out nervously. "I'm not going to kiss anybody!"

"With your glasses, you won't have to worry about it," she shot back.

I pulled away, stung. Why did she have to bring up the fact that I had glasses? What was wrong with that? I'd played lots of people with my glasses. I frowned. She was just trying to be mean. Don't let it get to you, Katrina, I thought to myself, following it with the short prayer, God, please forgive her and help her to become a Christian.

The girl who'd been reading with Mrs. Volini came out crying. I sighed. Apparently she hadn't gotten Juliet.

I don't even want that part anymore, I thought to myself. I don't want to have to kiss anybody! Just the thought made my body be on edge. I WAS NOT going to do a stage kiss of any kind. Were they nuts?! I was only fourteen!

"Katrina Bale." Mrs. Volini was waiting.

I gulped.

The old pick-it-out-of-the-hat trick. ;D

(If I get better at this, maybe I'll have like some kind of special forum. For now, humor me, OK? :))

I hope you guys enter!!! Both Britt and Grace are GREAT designers. :) (I can't say so about myself.... just pick your style, OK? ;))

Rules for the giveaway:
1. You must be a follower of this blog, Storyteller of Weston County.
2. You can only enter for one of the designs, not all.
3. The choosing will be done fairly by me. No favoring.
4. This giveaway ends the 20th of March.

Youth Group Camp Out ;)

Hey!! :)

Sorry I haven't posted, commented, or replied to your comments for two days. =P I have been... camping! OK, OK, it wasn't camping. It was just a youth group (girls only ;)) camp-out in a cabin with our youth pastor's wife. It was TONS of fun!!!!! :) We played some really fun games like imaginiff (new fave game!!! :)) and Quelf (hilarious ;D). haha I've had a kind of cold for the past while, so I thought "yeah, you know, I'll go to bed by like ten" and, of course, I've been wanting to get better for the play auditions tomorrow (SO EXCITED!!! :)) and so when our youth pastor's wife asked us if we wanted to watch a movie (their clock was wrong, so it said like 8:45, but it was really like 10:30) I was like "oh, yeah sure". And then I found out what time it was. =P So, I fell asleep on the floor to the sounds of How to Train Your Dragon. Yeah. =P (The next morning I found out that they'd stayed up until 12:10. Me: ?!!!?????? Yes, I am an early bird.... =P) Yesterday we went on a scavenger hunt (well, kind of like that) and our prize was very rewarding--a Bible with a whole bunch of great verses to look up!!!! :) We had lots of fun tramping around in the forest and field. (It was quite a relief, though, when we found the truck haha =D) And then yesterday when we finally got back, I was so tired (partly from walking around, partly from staying up so late, partly from my cold [probably]) that I just sat down and watched a movie. =D haha ;)

So, yeah, that's what's been happening. ;)

What's been going on in your life?

By the way, thanks for the two new interviews!! I'll get them posted soon. ;) And I'll keep ya'll updated on the play!!! :) Can't wait!! Be praying!!!

Lator gator.

Over and out.
