Beneath the Sky

Beneath the sky stretches the willow's branches;
Sad, drooping; no sign of hope.
You are the willow, looking for answers,
Looking for some way to cope.

Beneath the sky stretches the pine's branches,
Turning orange, a sign of the dead.
You are the pine, looking for a way out,
You can still live, it's said.

Beneath the sky stretches the oak's branches,
Proud and mighty, yet so sad.
You are the oak, feeling so lonely,
Are you really so bad?

Beneath the sky stretches the lonely arms,
Of those who want God's love.
But they're looking the wrong way,
Turn your eyes to the above.

Beneath the sky with eyes upturned,
You finally look the right way in,
You smile to yourself and speak
The words that take Him within.

Courageous

I would highly recommend the movie Courageous, made by the same people who made Fly Wheel, Facing the Giants, and Fireproof (Sherwood Pictures). It's a story about how fathers need to stand up and be courageous for their families. It's rated PG-13, but only because of thematic elements and religious views. I hope you guys go and check it out!

Random as Ever!!

Hey, ya'll!!

Just a question--you guys like pirate stories? Hope ya are, because I'm coming up with one!!!! I'll post it when I'm done writing it. I'm still figuring some other things, too.... :D

OK, so here's a book review. (haha) ;)

Name: Million Dollar Throw
Author: Mike Lupica
Rating: 3/4
Category: football

Nate Brodie is the biggest Tom Brady fan probably, like, ever. When he gets the chance to throw a football and win a million dollars at a Patriots game, he takes the chance. But there's big pressure on him, and not only that, his friend's got a problem that's bigger....
(ask parents as always!!)

OK, so here's a poem. ;)

Waves crashing against the shore,
My head full of pirate lore,
Ships that come to plunder the town,
Listening carefully for the bell's sound.

Fires flickering throughout the land,
As here comes the pirate band,
Having ravaged the island fair,
I watch, the wind blowing my hair.

I fly towards the coast, fly away,
The pirates had come that fateful day,
They came to sweet the coasts around,
I listen for the warning bell's sweet sound.

The bell's stopped--it's pirates, definitely,
I look for the light that I still don't see,
"Oh where's the boat coming for me?"
It's gone--off into the blue sea.

I run for my life from the band,
I don't want this to be my last stand.
I've got to escape--to get away,
I just can't stick here and stay.

And then on the horizon,
I see more than the sun,
I see a ship flying towards me,
Across the blue crashing sea.

It stops in the cove by me,
The anchor weighing into the sea,
I fly up the gangplank breathing hard,
Collapsing by a barrel of lard.

The Savior's ship has rescued me,
Rushing across the big blue sea,
Saving from Satan's band,
That had once ravaged the land.

That's all for now!!!

Bye!!!

Letters To Jo

Dear Jo,

How are you doing? I’m fine. Why’d you have to leave? I don’t understand. And I think it stinks that your parents got divorced. It just isn’t right. Know what I mean?
Today was…interesting. I couldn’t stop thinking that you’d left and that I’d probably never see you again. Sometimes I wish I was a Christian like you, but I can never get myself to go to church or even glance at the Bible you gave me.
Yeah, it’s just sitting on my top shelf in my room, collecting dust. I kind of feel bad, especially since you signed the inside. But I can’t bear to look at it. It’s really weird.
I’ve been keeping up your blog for you, since you can’t go on now. I can’t believe your parents…never mind. But I’ve mostly just been typing up “pictures of Jesus” because I don’t know anything about the Bible and sometimes you’ve posted pictures before. Sadly, the view counts been down lately. Sometimes I think I’m a failure.
I can still remember your face, Jo. I can see you, smiling at me. Mostly my brain remembers when we were at the park. Remember that, when I managed to sneak out of my house and join you? Yeah, I do, too. It’s my favorite memory of you.
We were sitting on the park bench, and you just smiling at me. I can even remember exactly what we said. Can you?
“Always keep writing, Willow,” you told me. “Don’t ever forget that I told you that.”
       “I won’t,” I’d replied. You haven’t forgotten, either, right?
Just to say, remember those emails you always used to send me? That was great. You’d always pick a different accent and everything for your emails. That always made me laugh, though I never said so and my accents aren’t half as convincing.
So I tell you what. From now on, I’ll change all of my accents. I hope you haven’t forgotten me, Jo. I’m sorry about your Bible. Hope you’re having a good time.
      Love,
      Willow

Above is a sample of one of my new stories that I'll hopefully be publishing soon on my blog Rubberboot Girl. Hope you're looking forward to it!!

Today's Scripture...

Today's scripture...

Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the pat, and the birds came along and ate it up. Some fell on the rocky places, where idid not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorn, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. He who has ears, let him hear." Matthew 13:3-9 (NIV)

PIANO!!!!!! WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Piano Bookworm--if you are still on, Storyteller would like it if you would please go back to Rubberboot Girl for a second and looked at the page Olivia 2. Thanks!!!!

So what is it?

Pawing, snorting, breath like fog,
Called by Indians, the "Big Dog".
They run wild, free as the sky,
Their spirits seem to go and fly.

Riderless, they flee the sound,
Of the wild coyote hound,
They fly away from the ropes,
Just to say, they ain't dopes.

To have to be under man's care,
Would be to be caught in a snare,
They'd run, free as the sky,
Flying--higher than high.

~Storyteller

So, what is it?

The list of very random facts that should be "things"

Random fact: the cat in the hose incident happened again (confused? Please go to Rubberboot Girl)
Random fact: I came up with another story--it's about where this kid goes to camp...
Random fact: I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get tired of book reviews...
Random fact: you know, technically these aren't facts--these are random "things", but anyway...
Random fact: I detest the name Max-Ernest (don't you?)
Random fact: I would die if one of my siblings named their kid Elmo or Ursula (not literally)
Random fact: I absolutely CANNOT get into a story if the beginning is very, very slow (and if the rest of the story is slow, too)
Random fact: I have to have a book where you get into the action in the first or so chapters (as in the first chapter: "Ahh!!! Hermie's dead!!" *dramatic music playing in your head* Who on earth killed Hermie??)
Random fact: that's enough random facts!!

The Rainbow

I think this picture is pretty much awesome!!! I found it while my sibling was researching pictures of a field for a drawing she was doing. And, yeah, I kind of thought--"why not share it?" So, here it is!

Bible verse of the day: "I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant I am making between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters come a flood to destroy all life." Genesis 9:13-15 (NIV)

Just remember that next time you see a rainbow. ;)

Bye for now!!!

Help for new bloggers!

Hey!!!

So, I've been working really hard on my Olivia McCarthy story because, frankly, it's got me totally pumped!!!! I've always thought that being an actor was a cool idea. Who doesn't think it's a cool idea?? And I wouldn't really want to be an actor for the fame--I'd want it because it's fun to act and there's all of those cool people, and of course the costumes and the sets. But, overall, I probably wouldn't really want to be an actor. Would you?

Just want to give a few tips to new bloggers or maybe even people who've been blogging for awhile. First tip? I know there's a lot of places where you can get free blog templates. But BE CAREFUL. Some of them are most likely shams. I looked up one and it WAS. So just please be careful not to get like a virus on your computer or have somebody hack into your account.
Second? I know that when I first started, I knew nothing about customizations. But it's really easy and fun!! Just go to "template" when you're on your blog designer, and click the word "customize". You can pick colors, fonts,  change your layout, change background pictures, and even change the overall size of your blog or the sizes of your sidebars!
Third? As always, there's comments. That's been one of my hardest sometimes, because it's like, of course usually all of your friends don't have gmail accounts. So, as I've said before, just go to settings, then posts and comments, and click "anonymous users".
Fourth? I'm pretty sure you've all also heard about following (you know--add the blog address you want to follow into your reading list URL spot, which is on your blogger dashboard). Well, here's something else to all those out there--you can't put up a "google friend connect" thingy, that makes it easier for a lot of people, unless you already have on follower.
Fifth? If you got to your layout, there's lots of cool gadgets you can add to spice up your blog! And, though you might be afraid you might ruin something, if you click the "blog posts" spot in the middle, you can change lots of fun stuff!!!

I hope that was helpful for all of you new bloggers out there!! Keep up the good work!!!

~Storyteller

Olivia

Hey!!

I don't know about you, but don't you think it would be interesting to see the life of an actor through the eyes of a teenager? Talk about cool!! The idea kind of got me started on a new story about Olivia McCarthy! If you would like to read the beginning of her story, please to go my blog Rubberboot Girl. I'd love it if you'd read it and tell me what you thought of it!!!!

Bye!!!!

You are Lord of Lords...

(girl's part)
You are Lord of Lords, You are King of Kings,
You are mighty God, Lord of everything,
You're Emmanuel, you're the great I Am,
You're the Prince of Peace, who is the Lamb,
You're my saving God, you're my saving Grace,
You will reign forever, You are Ancient of Days,
You are Alpha, Omega, Beginning and End,
You're my Savior, Messiah, Redeemer and Friend.

(everyone together)
You're my Prince of Peace, and I will live my life for You.

So, I just love this song, and I don't know if any of you guys know about it, but I just wanted to share it with you! If you know this song, you probably know that it's You Are Holy, though I didn't add the beginning or the boys' part. If you have sang this song before, please comment!!

Book review--Sleuth or Dare Series

Haha, I believe that book reviews are still winning! Yeah, wow... It's kind of weird. Anyway, here it goes!

Book review--The Sleuth or Dare Series
Names: (of the first two books, which are the ones I've read)  Partners in Crime and Sleepover Stakeout
Author: Kim Harrington
Published by: (I kind of forgot to add this onto other ones, but anyway...) Scholastic
Category: middle school, mystery, nerds ;)

So this series is a mystery series, following two 12-year-old seven graders named Norah and Darcy (and following from Norah's point of view). When a school project--starting their own business--seemed pretty easy, they never expected to get actual results. Their business? A detective agency. Yep, don't want to spoil the whole thing!! (as always, ask your parents!!)

On The Breeze Away

You don't know if you'll live, to see another day,
Your wishes came and went, flew on the breeze away,
Your dreams have come and gone, out the window far,
How could you have thought you could wish on a star?

On the breeze away--blowing towards the sea,
You wonder--very faintly--does God see me?
On the breeze away--falling in the stars above,
Looking, yearning, for Jesus' rescue dove.

Your life seems weary, full of suffering and pain,
And you wonder quietly--am I even really sane?
The pain is unbearable, the aloneness complete,
When will it come, the two ends coming to meet?

On the breeze away--flying towards the trees,
Whistling loudly, whistling through the leaves,
On the breeze away--down inside of you,
Listening intently, for God's dove's coo.

Emotions well up inside of you, bubbling to the top,
The visions keep on coming, but you beg them to stop.
You don't need to be reminded, every single day,
Of the time your wishes, went on the breeze away.

On the breeze away--your wishes disappear,
All of your dreams, that you held so dear.
On the breeze away--they have become complete,
Blowing where the crossroads come together and meet.

The magic carpet underneath you, being pulled away,
You wish you could back, and change the things of today,
But what if nothing happened? If it was for naught?
If you cannot remember what your dear Savior taught?

On the breeze away--your wishes fade away,
Going back to the time when you wished for today,
On the breeze away--like a dull white sheet,
Blowing where the crossroads come together and meet.

4th of July

I woke with a start. Sunlight streamed in through the window. I could hear the sound of cooking and talking going on downstairs. Wonderful smells wafted in through my open bedroom door. The door creaked as a head poked itself in. My younger twin brothers, Georgie and Danny, grinned at me mischievously.

"What're you guys doing?" I laughed, getting out of bed and swinging my pajama-d legs out of the grabbing covers. "Argh!!!!" They squealed and I chased them into the hallway and all the way down to their rooms. I laughed so hard I nearly snorted.

Then I ran back into my room. I closed the door and locked it, glancing at my calendar while I was at it. I knew today was the day circled--the 4th of July, the best day of the year! I smiled to myself and threw on a T-shirt and a pair of raggedy shorts before running out of the room and down the stairs.

"Morning, Mom!" I grinned, running into the kitchen.

"Megan," Mom started, hands quickly shaking pieces of chicken in a bag full of flour and spices, "can you please...?" she beckoned with her head towards the pile of dishes that was starting to stack up.

I only grinned and got my hands soapy. After the dishes were done, I helped Mom take the corn out of the oven and set it next to the huge tub of mashed potatoes. Georgie and Danny were eyeing the huge watermelon sitting on the counter by the huge knife, licking their lips. I glared playfully at them and shooed them out of the kitchen.

"Mercy me, Megan!" Mom burst as we got the last of the food ready. "Your hair! You haven't even brushed it!"

"Mommm..." I groaned.

She glared and plopped me down. My brothers watched all-too-eagerly as Mom pulled at the unruly frizzies and curls of my brown hair and then pulled it into a managable ponytail.

"Mom," I pleaded, "we're going to be late! You know that everybody's probably already at the house! And where's Dad?"

"He went up early," Mom explained. "Grandpa needed some help setting up tables."

After my hair ordeal was done, my older sister, Darcy, had finally woken up. My teenager sister helped Mom and I get the food into the minivan and made sure that the boys didn't even try touching the cans of pop waiting in piles of ice in the cooler. We all piled into the van and then sped up the road towards our grandparents house.

The huge multitude of cars signaled that the whole family had arrived, including the people who'd been invited from the church and the family who'd gathered from as far away as California (if we lived there, we'd definitely not try and make the trip to Indiana).

"Hurry!" squealed Danny. "Hank's already there!"

Hank was my year older cousin, and my twin brothers' favorite cousin. Mostly because he was so tall they could climb all over him like a jungle-gym. We all hopped out, the boys taking the lead and Mom, Darcy, and I with the food and cooler, towards the big victorian house. Smells of delicious food and laughter wafted out from inside the house. There were already lots of people outside, too, some dawdling around the huge tables spread out far and wide on the big green lawn, some on the porch, sitting in chairs and the porch-swings, and even some of the spryer folk up in the big trees that dotted Grandpa's property like huge pieces of broccoli.

We got the food inside as the boys plagued Hank for piggy-back rides. Dad was talking animatedly with his brother, Uncle Matt. They were laughing so hard and Aunt Marie, Matt's wife, was so red, I had to say that they were talking about the time Marie and Matt first met.

"Megan! Darcy! Laney!" Grandma smiled warmly at us as we entered the crowded kitchen.

She took the food and cooler from our hands and told us to enjoy ourselves. Darcy and I fled to the cousins, sometimes this being the first time we'd seen them since the last 4th of July. Finally, Grandpa called us all out onto the big lawn were all the tables were. A huge table was piled high with delicious looking and smelling food.

"Time to sing the Appleseed Song!" he announced.

We all joined our hands in a huge ring that would've stretched all the way around the huge house at least twice. Then, with voices raised, we started our annual song.

"Oh...!
The Lord is good to me,
And so I thank the Lord,
For giving me, the things I need,
The sun and the rain and the appleseed,
The Lord is good to me.
Amen. Amen. Amen, amen, amen.
Ahhhhhh-men."

We all laughed and smiled, and then Grandpa prayed. We all pounced on the food like hungry tigers. After we'd finished there were lots of games, and then we were all off to the Bluff where we'd watch the town's fireworks. They were amazing, as always.

And then we were heading back home. As I snuggled into the covers, I couldn't help but think that this was the most perfect 4th of July of all.

Misty Lake Picture

Another cool picture! Can't you just see this in some cool movie? I definitely could. I almost just want to add something like this into my book because it looks pretty cool.

The Green-eyed Girl Prophecy

Land of fairy lanterns, glowing in the trees,
The turning, frothing waves of the seas,
Waterfalls that tumble from mountains high,
Wizard fireworks exploding up in the sky.

Waterfalls tumbling from the mountains tall,
The magical unicorn in the palace stall,
Auras bright with the nature of their worth,
Mushrooms glowing at the baby's birth.

The child of legends, the green-eyed girl,
Soon the sails of the ship shall unfurl,
Her destiny shall ride on an eagle's wing,
As her heart the fairies come and sing.

Palace tiles of ornate design,
They shall soon be mine,
As the wizard, evil, he shall come,
Destroying the good of some.

But the girl's destiny, the prophecy of green,
Look for the child, for she has seen,
What shall come in the future far,
Following the unmoving blue star.

Swords clashing, arrows flying,
Elves fighting, fairies dying,
Green-eyed protectors may have been,
But know they're lost to the Glen.

Hide now, girl of prophecy,
For soon you shall see,
That your end will otherwise come,
And you will be of the dead some.

So off she fled, into the countryside,
Where others have come and died,
She flew on the wings of eagles soared,
Running from the evil lord.

The child of legends, the green-eyed girl,
Soon her fate, the ship's sail unfurl,
She'll run faraway, off into the blue sky,
On the wings of eagles, away she'll fly.

Contest Winner--Piano Bookworm!

Hey, guys! I don't know if any of you saw the thing about the Writing Contest, but Piano Bookworm did! Unfortunately, she was the only one who entered. I'd love it if a whole bunch of you guys did! But, for Piano's outstanding effort, she's won! Her story's posted below!

He was hot. The burning sun battered his face as he lay on the ground. Today was the third day he had been without food or water, and it was beginning to show. His throat was parched, and he had hardly enough strength to stand.

He moved under a tree to get some relief from the sun, and that was when he heard it: a low cry. It was almost like the whining of a puppy that thinks it's in trouble. Usually he would have ignored it, but today he was feeling sorry for anyone who was crying. He would be crying if he had any water to moisten his mouth.

He walked over to the log that the sound seemed to be coming from. Behind it was a little girl, maybe two or three years old, sitting on the ground and crying. "Are you OK?" he asked her.

She shook her head and kept crying. "Are you lost? Do you want me to help you find your home?" he asked once more.

"Uh huh," she gulped, and stopped crying. Getting up, she held out her arms to be picked up by him. He warily tried to pick her up, but he was too weak. He set her down, and she started crying again.

"Will you stay here?" he asked her. "I'll go get help." He started walking away, but she wailed louder and ran after him.

Finally he just held her hand and started walking. In about half an hour, they reached a house. It took longer than it would have, since he had to keep stopping and resting. He walked in the front door and nearly ran into a woman who was standing there. She looked at him, gave a gasp, and hugged him, scolding him as she did so. "Where have you been, you naughty boy? We were worried sick! You..."

"Mom," he protested. "Wait. Here's a girl I found out there. I think she's lost."

His mom looked at him closely. "What girl?"

He looked down at his hand. She was still there. She looked at him and smiled. "she's right here. Don't you see her?"

His mom shook her head. "There's no girl." He looked down at her again, and she was gone.

the next day his friend said to him :" Boy, maybe I shouldn't have dared you to do that. YOu look really weak."

He shrugged. "I don't know. But I think God brought me home."

Hope you guys enjoyed!

Fire Update

Fire update: another fire has started by our house. The fire hasn't gotten any closer to our house. So far there has been at least one fire-related death, four people mission, and two people injured (that I know of, at least). We appreciate your prayers!
