Contest Winner--Piano Bookworm!

Hey, guys! I don't know if any of you saw the thing about the Writing Contest, but Piano Bookworm did! Unfortunately, she was the only one who entered. I'd love it if a whole bunch of you guys did! But, for Piano's outstanding effort, she's won! Her story's posted below!

He was hot. The burning sun battered his face as he lay on the ground. Today was the third day he had been without food or water, and it was beginning to show. His throat was parched, and he had hardly enough strength to stand.

He moved under a tree to get some relief from the sun, and that was when he heard it: a low cry. It was almost like the whining of a puppy that thinks it's in trouble. Usually he would have ignored it, but today he was feeling sorry for anyone who was crying. He would be crying if he had any water to moisten his mouth.

He walked over to the log that the sound seemed to be coming from. Behind it was a little girl, maybe two or three years old, sitting on the ground and crying. "Are you OK?" he asked her.

She shook her head and kept crying. "Are you lost? Do you want me to help you find your home?" he asked once more.

"Uh huh," she gulped, and stopped crying. Getting up, she held out her arms to be picked up by him. He warily tried to pick her up, but he was too weak. He set her down, and she started crying again.

"Will you stay here?" he asked her. "I'll go get help." He started walking away, but she wailed louder and ran after him.

Finally he just held her hand and started walking. In about half an hour, they reached a house. It took longer than it would have, since he had to keep stopping and resting. He walked in the front door and nearly ran into a woman who was standing there. She looked at him, gave a gasp, and hugged him, scolding him as she did so. "Where have you been, you naughty boy? We were worried sick! You..."

"Mom," he protested. "Wait. Here's a girl I found out there. I think she's lost."

His mom looked at him closely. "What girl?"

He looked down at his hand. She was still there. She looked at him and smiled. "she's right here. Don't you see her?"

His mom shook her head. "There's no girl." He looked down at her again, and she was gone.

the next day his friend said to him :" Boy, maybe I shouldn't have dared you to do that. YOu look really weak."

He shrugged. "I don't know. But I think God brought me home."

Hope you guys enjoyed!
