Twilight's Last Night--Chapter 5

Chapter Five

"Hey, my name's Katrina," I smiled, holding out my hand for a handshake.

The African American girl stared at me for a few moments like I was crazy.

"Katrina Bale," I continued, taking my hand back and using it to hold my books better. "What's your name?"

She glared at me. "It's Erin--Erin Hall."

"Nice to meet you," I smiled. "Are you new here?"

"Yeah," she said. "Moved here a week ago. And what? Let me guess--you've lived here all your life." She put her hands on her hips. "And guess what, girl. I don't need your pity. I don't need your help. And I definitely don't need your friendship."

"Hey, hey, I just want to be friends to be friends, that's all," I assured her.

Her brown eyes narrowed. "You know, at my last school, there was a girl like you. Really nice, really pretty. I thought, hey, maybe here's a friend. And you know what? I got to be friends with her, and then she made me look like an idiot--ON PURPOSE--in front of the whole entire school." She continued to glare. "I'm done with friends."

Then she walked off.

How could somebody do that to a girl? To anybody?

I bit my lip and walked off.

  1. Okay, so I saw this in my feed, and I was all like, "Storyteller must know I'm having a bad day because I love this story." :) So you just made my day better. Thanks!
