What's in Store for my Future?

Honestly. I have no idea what's coming up on me.

I mean, sure, I can have plans, but come on--we've all read enough books and watched enough movies to know what the main character plans on doing doesn't always happen. And you can probably tell from your own life, too.

My plans have even changed before.

My old plan?

Become a nurse. (now? That sounds wildly crazy. Me?! A NURSE!?!? Oh, please, you're not going to want me taking care of you or helping the doctor work on you doing surgery. You might as well say bye bye already....)

My plan now?

I want to become a writer (I mean, I already am, but a published writer) and a graphic designer, working for some big company, maybe designing websites, their logos,  magazines, whatever. I love all that stuff. :)

My friend once told me what she thought of my future--"I can just see it now--you're sitting on this chair in like this cool house with a view of this mountain--like maybe in like Switzerland or something--with your cat on your lap and your laptop in front of you with a cup of tea."

Yeah.

Most unlikely.

But it was kind of funny in the moment. :)

(yeah, well, the same friend said I'd also marry a dairy farmer and have a billion children. Thanks a lot, friend...)

I don't know what plans are in hold for me. But I do know something. My future is in the Hands of someone who has amazing plans for my future that I could not even begin to dream or imagine. Someone who has every detail of my life planned out. According to His will, if I follow it.

" 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future.'" Jeremiah 29:11

Ah, I love that verse. And one of the first I memorized in one of my first classes in where I currently live now. I've always liked that verse. It just shows how God really does have a plan for us, each and every one of us, if we're willing to submit our lives to Him and walk with Him daily.

What's in your future? You'll never know. But trust. <3

  1. I'm so glad that I'm not in charge of my future. I would have so much trouble! Right now, I think I want to be an elementary school teacher, I love teaching and kids, but in the next few years that could change completely! I'm just grateful that it'll all work out in the end. My favorite verse (well, besides several others hehe) is Romans 8:28, "we know that all things work together for good, for those who love God, those who are called according to his purpose"

P.S. I'd love it if you checked out my blog, I don't post much, but I'm slowly working on a story and I'd be interested to know what you think of it!

  3. This pretty much just made my day! The future can be a scary thing, but exciting as well. I have a few dreams, though I'm not really sure which ones will come true. All I know is when I have trusted in God things have worked out. Thanks for the post!

P.S. I agree with ThePixie, your friend is hilarious!

  4. This was great! I have been struggling about what I am going to do when I get old enough to go and try new things for myself. Then I just thought about it too long and decided I was going to be a crazy artist who is single and has WAAAAAY to many cats. hehe! ILOVE cats so much.

My friend always jokes about us when we get married ... only she is going to totally get married, and I am probably not going to. WOW! That was very random. :(

You are such an encouragement to me. :D
