The Memories Are Still There

The memories are still there,
Whispering in on the breeze,
Coming to where they care,
And going to where they please.

The memories are still there,
Coming towards me again,
I wonder if me they'll spare,
And go off into the world of men.

The memories are still there,
Haunting me, a laughing ghost,
Sweeping me off to their lair,
Flying past the night post.

The memories are still there,
A trace of a smile and of a tear,
I wish I could've seen the tear,
But I'm glad I'm not a seer.

The memories are still there,
As faint as a leaf of fall,
I can it hear its voice, a dare,
But then I don't hear it at all.

The memories are still there,
I wish I could run away.
Grab some cheese and a pear,
And run to another land today.
